I do not know what happened, but my mobile phone popped up a reminder that my son needs to see the dentist. It seems quite a while since he visited last time. To my surprise, his last visit was in February 2023. I am so confused, I thought after each visit, the dental office always schedules an appointment for next visit. I also blamed myself, not keeping a time record. But we really expect a dentist appointment text message or call. I feel disappointed.

I originally had orthodontic treatment with Dr. Popp 20 years ago. I realize how much time that is and some may not think this review is relevant - but don't you want your smile to last 20 years? Mine didn't. I came to Dr. Popp as a borderline jaw surgery case at 14 and was treated with extractions of my wisdom teeth and all four premolars as well as four years of braces in an attempt to hide my large overbite and avoid surgery. No one, Dr. Popp or my parents, consulted a jaw surgeon. The day I had my braces removed, he asked me, "Are you the one we recommended for jaw surgery?" I replied it was and he responded saying I never needed it. So, I went on thinking that.
Now, at 35, I discovered I have almost no airway and have had sleep apnea nearly all this time. I will be undergoing double jaw surgery or "MMA" later this year. Additionally, there was discussion about replacing the 4 premolars I had extracted BUT THEY CAN'T BECAUSE Dr. Popp used too harsh a wire as he pulled my teeth inwards resulting in loss of roots. In essence, they can't move my teeth to make room for 4 dental implants without risk of losing my front teeth. The jaw surgeon I have chosen, who has been practicing for 40 years, told me I was botched even for standards 20 years ago. I would have been better off if Dr. Popp had never touched my mouth.
Always seek 2nd and 3rd opinions prior to orthodontic work. And please remember that orthodontists, though doctors, are not MEDICAL DOCTORS; only a maxillofacial surgeon (jaw surgeon) has both a DDS and MD degree having completed a 6-7 year surgical residency.

We went to this dental office for two years. We always showed up to appointments without incident and the team was friendly with my daughter. Today I had a call for an appointment confirmation. In two years, this is the first appointment I’ve forgotten about and needed to reschedule because I have to work. She told me that we can’t reschedule because there’s no availability and I would have to call back at the beginning of the year. Excuse me? How do you not have availability for a cleaning for a patient that you have had for two years? I would have had no issue with her saying it might be a couple of weeks or a month because we are really packed on the schedule but not being able to reschedule at all? At that point, someone has overbooked your office and done something wrong. Period. I called another pediatric dentist in the area with a better rating and was able to get booked for a day that I already had off next week. They also wouldn’t provide me with her patient records when I asked for them because they “usually just send x rays”. I know that’s not all the information they have on file in two years. But okay. I’m sure that our next experience will be with a provider that values their patients. That’s probably why they have better reviews.

My 6-year-old daughter is non-verbal with Autism. Dentist visits are usually nightmare experiences for my daughter. We are new to the Chattanooga/Cleveland area, and Team Popp came highly recommended from other Autism families. Dr. Colton Popp and his team were absolutely amazing. They were kind, patient, welcoming, and extremely competent. Not only were they actually able to check my child's teeth without causing her
to have a meltdown- they actually had her laughing and signing for "more" teeth brushing. I will only be using this practice for my daughter from here on out, and I would highly recommend them to any other family with a special needs child.
