I was referred to Dr. Shefferman by my dentist in 2018, after I had brought up concerns about my childhood orthodontic treatment (retractive headgear and 4 premolar extractions) and she told me that these days orthodontists would never do that and maybe I could get implants. Dr. Shefferman said it was strange that I was treated with retractive headgear at just 8 years old, but said he didn't have the space to put my teeth back in and that everything was fine since my profile is balanced. I took his advice at face value and didn't think about it for 5 years. Years later, I visited a couple other orthodontists who all mentioned that surgical expansion is an option, even if they didn't recommend it in particular. Finally in 2024, I got a palate expansion surgery that has really improved my breathing and well-being. If I had seen a different orthodontist in 2018 that had mentioned surgery being an option, I could have gotten treatment much earlier. I do not get the sense that Dr. Shefferman is very sophisticated and surgically-minded. It's not just surgery, either -- MSE/MARPE is also an option for adult palatal expansion. A balanced profile isn't all that matters -- what's more important is tongue space and breathing! Orthodontists have ignored this to the detriment of their patients.

My experience with Shefferman Orthodontics has been superb. The Invisalign process worked well for me and accomplished what I needed, straightened teeth and a more confident smile. Office staff is professional from helping with insurance to scheduling appointments, facilitating a payment plan and ... all the things! Dr. Schefferman himself is a great guy to work with. His sense of humor is A+, which matches his professionalism and expertise.

Doctor Schefferman was our salvation during the beginning of our US vacation. My 15-year-old son has a fairly complicated brace that bent during sleep and stopped working properly. Doctor Schefferman took the time and effort to put a "German" bracket (different concept than in the US) back in order, our vacation saved!
Can highly recommend him and his super friendly team!

Visiting from Denmark my son had a small complication with his braces. A quick phonecall to Shefferman Orthodontics and we got an appointment right away. They fixed the problem and off we went to continue our vacation. Fantastic service and amazing staff. Thanks for saving our vacation

I cannot express the depth of gratitude and satisfaction I feel after my incredible experience with Dr. Shefferman. For years, I battled with the challenges of a small jaw, an inconsistent number of teeth between my upper and lower jaws, and a seemingly incompatible dental situation. My journey through multiple orthodontists left me disheartened, with some suggesting there was nothing that could be done, others proposing tooth extractions from the front (which was a non-starter for me), and some recommending invasive surgeries.
I decided to give Dr. Shefferman a one last chance. From our first meeting, he took the time to thoroughly assess my situation and, to my amazement, assured me that he could give me a beautiful smile without resorting to surgery or losing teeth.
Dr. Shefferman presented me with a detailed estimation of how my teeth would look after the treatment. Skeptical but desperate for a solution, I embarked on this journey with cautious optimism.
