My elderly mother was Dr. Moyd's patient for decades. He retired; therefore, she was assigned to a nurse practitioner, Joe Reynolds. He was not a good fit for her to say the least.
I accompanied her to one of her visits with him during a time she had been particularly ill for weeks. He spoke beyond her understanding, didn't explain things fully to her, and changed her medication without her really understanding why. He also prescribed an antibiotic for symptoms that were presenting as viral. She had an emergency hospital visit, days after being prescribed the antibiotic, that confirmed no bacterial infection was present that warranted antibiotics.
What really made me question his ethics was when he told my mom that one of her symptoms, nausea, was a small price to pay for her "numbers" being okay. It is NOT okay to be nauseated everyday for weeks.
I knew my mom wasn't going to be respected by him, so I convinced her to change medical providers. The new provider actually listens to her and wants her to feel better. She took her back to her baseline (former medication) and has been making ONE change in her medication regimen at a time. This way they'll know what works and what doesn't. I'm happy to report that my mother is back to her former self.
I don't expect medical personnel to know everything, but I do expect them to listen and take concerns seriously. Many elderly patients do not feel comfortable asking medical providers for clarification and explanations; they suffer in silence.

I have been going to Caresouth in Society Hill since Dr.Barker ,who delivered in 1986’ I have family members who have closer friends family that go there because of the Doctor ‘s Like Steven smith Barbra Wright. Yesterday was one of the worst days. I was so angry about the young lady who didn’t assist me. However because she knew my name from me going there for care. Just yelled at me across the floor to sit down someone would get with me. I have never felt disrespected. The fact that I didn’t raise my voice or act out on the count of who I represent and who I am was one thing. However my Grandmother who relied on Dr. Smith would have been met with the disrespect. She yells out if you have insurance or don’t rolled her eyes. I mean I simply told her don’t say anything else to me and she when she recited like a dog or child , rolling her eyes making a scene. I will be filing complaint and I will be talking to my aunt and family members about the care. I believe respect and compassion and this girl has track record . So if Hr reads this please reach out so this isn’t the image of the New Care South Carolina. I hope that you will because it was me and other people who where to sick to care about being called out. I’m old enough to be her mother. You talking me any kinda way then rolling your eyes an said it again brag in front of staff and they scared to say anything. Manners get you along way

I've got possibly the best Dr in the world with special recognition to Ms Brown. Unfortunately getting my meds refilled is a nightmare. I'm on blood pressure meds as well as cholesterol. I'm not a rocket scientist but I'm sure those are pretty important had a stroke 2yrs ago and I've been unable to get my medical records so I can do my disability. This is all a result of incompetence at the front desk. Over two years now still can't get my medical records and just last month it took 3weeks to get my blood pressure meds. I'm trying hard to be patient but I'm thinking a new Dr is my only option. I don't want to change drs as I said I love my Drs. These issues are not the Drs fault. Again this is 100%the fault of the secretaries and the ones at front desk. This is extremely dangerous and threatening to the patients

The new front staff very unprofessional!! Playing around not paying attention to patients in lobby. When I said something to them they said this is how we act everyday. We are not responsible for patients and when they go to back. Nurses and Doctors are good but they need to get some responsible front desk staff!!

This the most unprofessional dental clinic I've ever been to. I went in with an infected back bottom tooth they done x-rays etc. They seen clearly that it was infected and still tried to extract it but it was to painful, so they give me penicillin and Motrin which was fine because it wasn't all that painful when I went there. When the numbness left my jaw swoll up and my tooth and gums had more pain than I've ever experienced and I had everyone of my tops extracted for dentures. I called the following Monday to tell them about the pain and they tell me to come in and the extract it with the infection still there. So the moral of the story is that I could of done the same thing with a flathead screwdriver and a ice cube. I highly recommend anyone that's look for a dentist to go elsewhere .
