Lakewood Family Dental is completely disorganized. I called multiple times over several months to schedule follow up periodontal work only to be told their only periodontist moved their practice to Anderson and nobody bothered to tell me. I have called 5 times now to get my records and xrays emailed to my new periodontist since my insurance won't pay for another set this year. The records STILL have not been sent and my appointment is tomorrow morning. I literally waited on hold for 17 minutes yesterday and 15 minutes today and ultimately had to call back multiple times to even get a person on the line. This is infuriating and ridiculous. I would NOT recommend.
I wish I could leave a review with zero stars. So so so so bad!!!!

This place used to have really efficient front office staff, and helped me out a lot for years with my teeth despite their frequent turnaround with dentists. I don’t know what happened but I will not be going back.
I actually liked this place a lot to the point I told my partner to take my stepdaughter there. 3 separate weekends my partner and stepdaughter either went and waited for their appt or ended up being called and told the appt had to be canceled because there wasn’t a provider there who took her type of Medicaid. But they never told him that, I only found out when I went for my son’s appt weeks later when I asked. They told him they would call him back and never did.
I was told he wasn’t on the schedule yet and I had scheduled online and received multiple reminder emails and texts about his appt (first time I ever scheduled online) and their online scheduling apparently doesn’t communicate with the offices but they still checked me in. Multiple people in the hour I waited with my 2 kids were coming up to the desk asking if they would be seen soon as some had been waiting hours and hadn’t even gotten their insurance cards back. Patients were coming up to the desk to be checked out after being seen and then were told by the front desk that they didn’t even see them on the schedule. The front desk workers kept putting phones on hold, then walking away from the phones for long periods of time but only putting the phone down on the desk and not on a real hold which could be a huge HIPPA violation as they were checking in in person patients and confirming pt info while the phone was off the hook letting whoever they asked to hold hear what was going on in the office. One patient even spoke with the front desk woman for a little bit wondering if she would be seen since she had been waiting close to 2 hours, and the front desk woman started asking personal questions about the pt, found out the pt used to work at Columbine high school, and asked “what they did to her”. I was in so much disbelief at how rude and insensitive that woman was to that pt who I can imagine did not want to relive that experience at her dentist appt.
After waiting an hour and being told we would be called back soon multiple times I was later told that they couldn’t do the appt today because of my sons insurance (why they didn’t confirm any insurance info when we checked in I have no idea). I had even tried to make a future appt for my stepdaughter who had never been seen before there and somehow her appt was made for a filling when she is a new pt and does not need any fillings and has not been seen before.
I work at a walk in clinic so I understand things can be stressful and difficult when it’s busy but this was awful. There really needs to be more requirements to work patient facing or some training because the people there now are not at all equipped to.

If I could put 0 stars I would put it without hesitation.
It's a terrible service the truth I thought they would be much more professional, I have a lot of bad points about this place the truth I didn't feel like coming back since all the staff is nefarious and racist since if you are a Hispanic or Latino they definitely attend you when they feel like it and when they do it they talk to you in such a derogatory and somewhat rude way
It's horrible the treatment that was given to me and my mother that we had an appointment for an extraction and I only went to give them $100 dollars because literally they just passed us to a room and they already left us sitting there for 40 minutes and after a dentist arrived the only thing he did was recline my mother and saw what she had to do and she left for another 40 minutes she never told us anything or that it was the best thing that could be done but that was not the worst because a lady arrived I don't know if she was the manager or I don't know what position she had in that place but in a very rude way she told us that she had to pay $500 dollars separately to see if they could do the extraction and I have no problem because I know that's the cost but she told us that that day they couldn't pay for it and even in 2 weeks they could do the extraction but for this my mother couldn't stand the pain anymore and they without any drop of compassion for her that's what she told us
And that wasn't the worst because he literally told us - can you pay for it? If you can't apply for a credit card, those are for those in your country, it's like a help for people like you-
The truth is that I can give wholehearted advice to Hispanics or anyone. Never go to this place. They are very different with different people and the treatments are different in the same way.

Office staff told my daughter she didn’t have insurance coverage even with her card present. I called the next business day and clarified to her insurance since she was scheduled for the next day and they told me it’s only 278.00 without the second insurance. I explained she’s a college student and that’s why we have two insurance so they told me they would call me back with a new quote. They never called so I called them and found we would only owe $56. My daughter called today due to being in severe pain and asked if she could come early and they said yes since she was scheduled for this afternoon. She got there to find out she could not have her root canal today due to “no provider” and told her she would have to come back. I called and asked if she could see if their other locations could see her and she said no. I asked for a manager was put on hold for 3-4 mins to have the staff say she’s in the bathroom can you wait to which I said no thank
You. We went somewhere else. Clearly they have less than adequate communication within their office.

I read some of the reviews before I posted this review and it seems like what I experienced is a common occurrence at this office. Had an appointment for my 7 yr old and after I sat there for a hour they told me they had no one to perform the cleaning for my son. I also overheard employees in the back talking amongst their selfs saying “I’m not doing the cleaning”. Basically arguing over who would perform my son’s cleaning because it was time to go home. Well no one ended up completing it so I was turned away. What a complete waste of time I spent on this unprofessional business!! Never again!! I'll be on the hunt for a new dental office asap!!!!
