I recently took my two kids, 8 and 10 years old, for a first time visit to Dr. Lu at First Impression Orthodontics. Their names were on a welcome sign, and we were greeted warmly. They were taken back immediately to be assessed, and then asked to wait while they prepared for a consultation. The waiting room is cozy and inviting. The music playing adds to the positive ambiance, and isn’t overwhelming. There were iPads for kids that don’t feel like watching the cartoons playing with subtitles, and even a charging station for people that would rather just plug in and use their own device. In a short time, we were ushered to the Dr’s consultation room where he did a thorough exam while his treatment coordinator took notes. One child was in pretty good shape, and put in a wait and see pattern, but my other child needed some immediate intervention to prevent some big issues as her adult teeth come in. Dr. Lu was thorough and clearly wants the best care for my children. He was calm and kind with the kids, he stressed healthy growth instead of perfection, and did not try to upsell anything.
The treatment coordinator was also excellent. She explained the next steps very clearly, and squeezed us into the schedule in right away, though I could tell that they are a very busy office. I look forward to coming back to this office and I have confidence that they will do everything they can to help my children’s mouths develop properly.
Edit: First Impression Orthodontics has put braces on one of my children and we have had two follow up visits. They are providing excellent care and seem focused on providing just what we need and they are good at communicating and explaining the treatment and recommendations. Dr. Lu is both efficient and thorough with treatment and the dental assistants and staff are truly excellent.

The name needs to be changed from First Impression Orthodontics to LASTING IMPRESSION! I started treatment in May of 2021 to address some spacing issues that I had. I was referred to Dr. Lu by my then dentist, Dr. Andrew Hunyh. 5 stars is not enough to give the staff at First Impression. They are efficient in every way.
Timely, friendly, flexible, and more than accommodating. The idea of braces as an adult made me slightly insecure, but they made me so comfortable from the consultation to the removal that I was proud to smile bigger and better than I ever have. Anna is the BEST tech ever, and we truly built a bond throughout my experience there.
I've since recommended other adults who have become patients and love their experience as much as I do.
5+ stars and 10s across the board!!!

Update 3/25: from my 9yo: “It’s a good place. The staff are nice. I’m happy with the progress. I actually kinda like my braces.”
It is really easy to talk to Dr. Lu and his staff. My son is getting his braces and the entire process has been explained to ease any concerns.

Dr. Lu, Ms. Jamie, and the team are so amazing. Very welcoming, nice clean office space. He doesn't waste time, he gets to the point, was great with my son and answered all of our questions. When leaving my son wanted to take a photo, he said this was the absolute best! For my kid to say that at the orthodontist says it all! Thank you First Impression orthodontics for a wonderful experience!

My daughter just had her braces removed today and I have a son still in braces. First Impressions has been amazing every step of the way. My daughter is not always the bravest when it comes to any type of dental work and her clinical technician Madina has been so amazing with her. Anytime someone asks us about braces I always refer them to First Impressions with zero hesitation!
