As a kid, I was always at the dentist office (near Jackson Memorial Hospital) being treated for cavities by dentists in training. Who remembers that awful tasting pink pills which they would give us at the beginning of the appts? šŸ¤Æ When I moved to Broward I was recommended to a dentist by an office mate. I went to see him once and things went fine. I needed a crown so I went back to him. He did the crown it was fine at first, but after a few days it didn't feel fine (ie., tight too small). So I went in, I don't know what changed but this guy had become unhinged and was screaming at his receptionist/assistance. He argued with me that the crown was fine. I couldn't believe the change. I told my coworker (who referred me to him) about my experience and she was shocked. I didn't want anyone else to experience this nightmare so I called my insurance and reported him. I needed a new dentist to fix this tight fitting crown. If you're wondering why I just didn't do a "Google search and read the reviews" to find a dentist; it's because it didn't exist at the time.. Let me continue with my nightmare search for a good dentist. I went to a young dentist on Hollywood Blvd who (seemed) professional. He was lovely and well mannered with me, but apparently something happened with a staff member. The guy went off on the young assistant šŸ˜³ (yep in front of the patients) screaming like a lunatic. I calmly informed him that he's behavior was terrible and that he needed to be professional. I tried as best as I could to calm down the crying young assistant. Yep, You better believe I was out of there (no cleaning, no exam) just where's the exit!!! Sooooooooo then I found a very good dentist at the current practice of Dr. Sperling, (we're talking 18 years ago or so). Unfortunately, he only lasted a short time. He sold the practice to Dr. Sperling and recommended him highly (think they studied together in dental school). After all my negative experiences I was apprehensive about seeing a new dentist, but I decided to give Dr. Sperling a try. I am so very happy that I did. Dr Sperling has been my dentist for over 15 years. He is aware that I have anxiety with dentists so he is very patient, caring, professional and attentive; as a matter of fact everyone in the office is! My husband witness my positive experience and started going to Dr. Sperling as well. There are times that I've had dental emergencies during holidays and Dr. Sperling has been quick to respond. The dental hygienists are also very thorough and professional. The front office staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive ( especially Alyssa). I still get a little nervous before my appts, but not scared because I know that I am in safe hands.

How does this dentist sleep at night. This is fair warning to beware and it does not hurt to get a second opinion or change dentist. My husband went in to fix his mouth. He came home with an outrageous list of work to be done. Thousands of dollars of work to be done with insurance paying for some, and an outrageous out of pocket amount in the thousands. My husband was nervous and just wanted to get it done because of the amount of work he was told needed to be done. The problem came when they asked him to apply for and pay the entire cost on a care credit account. Why not just charge him for the work he is about to get done right before he gets it done? Because they are greedy! So he tells me he has to get it done so I start paying monthly for care credit and he goes to them to start getting work done. I made sure to do the math to pay off care credit before interest would be charged which meant before he finished all the work to be done I was already finished paying. Well something not so good happens and ends up being a blessing in disguise. What happens is, his insurance changes at work and this office no longer accept his insurance. We have to find a new dentist or pay per procedure entirely at cost. But why? We already paid for every procedure in full as they instructed. Well thatā€™s not how insurance works Iā€™m okay with finding him a new dentist which I did. Tell me why the new dentist says to him that he doesnā€™t need much work to be done in his mouth while Dr. Hans Sperling office quoted him so much work and so much money. If you think it wasnā€™t bad enough this dentist was committing fraud, letā€™s get down to the fact that they were paid in full through us financing the entire long list of procedures through care credit. I called them to discuss my husbands balance that was remaining and what can be done. Office manager said he can come back and finish up the work to be done but it might be more money because of the time spent in between procedures, ā€œthe teeth may have gotten worse,ā€ and the insurance was no longer accepted by their office. I said no he wonā€™t be back he just wanted a refund. She the told me she couldnā€™t speak with me regarding this and my husband had to call and request it himself. My husband works a 9-5 and never made the time to call to discuss the remaining balance. I called back again a few months later hoping to get someone else to help me and was told that there was no balance and they had recently changed the system they used prior to a new system. I was told that If a refund was due that it was already rendered. Well no refund was ever given. Now they have no recollection of anything and it seems like a loss because he hadnā€™t been seen in over a year, but the remaining balances should have been refunded or at least sent to unclaimed funds, neither of which happened. On another note one thing your insurance gives you for free every year is a cleaning. This office wants to capitalize on every and anything, they charge extra for cleaning by adding a cost for a solution they use to ā€œprevent infectionā€. Sometimes refusing to do a cleaning unless you pay their fee. I wish it was all just a bad nightmare. Stay away donā€™t visit this place it is a disgraceful place.

I have been going to Dr. Sterling because of what a wonderful dentist he is and how nice and professional his entire staff is. In addition, you are always seen at your appointment time. No waiting forever like at other dentist. I have moved to Miami and continue driving out to Hollywood for my dental appointments because of the wonderful job that they do. Anthony
