My first visit to James River Dentistry was amazing, from the booking and communication with those ladies, to the assistant, the hygienist, and Dr. Guthrie. Everyone was so friendly and personable and made me feel as ease. I did not have great experiences at the last practice I went to so it made me feel a little uneasy about going somewhere new but they welcomed me with open arms and did everything to make me feel comfortable. They explained everything throughly, and were great at patient education. They even gave me a written quote for my plans so I would know what to expect without surprises. I would recommend this practice to anyone! They take their time with patients and go above and beyond in any treatment that they are doing.

My experience at James River Family Dentistry was great! Dr. Guthrie and staff were very friendly and answered all my questions. I was able to see how they use images of my teeth on-screen during the appointment, which was cool.

Everyone was so nice and the atmosphere was great! My technician and hygienist were both really thorough with my imaging and cleaning and took the time to explain things to me along the way. Dr. Guthrie has great bedside manner and was really respectful and informative. They were very transparent with pricing and were able to get me in quickly for a follow up appointment too.

Amazing team - not only are there two LITERAL DOGS on the team but the humans are also fantastic! They discovered dental issues that no one ever has before for me but never shame and are always kind. They’re professional, efficient, and thorough. Couldn’t recommend more!

I’ve been to many a dentist in my day and this team is by far my favorite. I’m actively scared to go which resulted in bad dental hygiene earlier in life that led to some moderate dental problems (heavy is the tooth that wears the crown). Dr. Guthrie is thorough, decisive and cool. Scheduling appointments is easy and their communication is elite. If your crown pops off because you were chewing “gum” (it was a Starburst), picture yourself out of town and texting the team who immediately responds and gets you in the day you get back. There is music playing and dogs chilling - was I at the dentist or just hanging with my friends?
