Drs Summer and Shannon Sawyer and the friendly staff at Children’s Dental Health of Lynchburg have taken excellent care of my kids dental needs for many years. They were caring and very supportive during the 4 year process of a medical challenge with one of my children and have been part of the care team that sparked a future career interest from the positive experience. They take the time to explain things well and we always leave the office with a beautiful smile!

We had a wonderful experience yesterday with Dr.Shannon and his staff. My daughter has autism and going to the dentist can be very nerve wrecking experience for both her and us as parents. Sensory overload is a struggle when anything goes near the mouth. However, Dr.Shannon and his staff made our daughter feel very comfortable even went as far to show her how each of the tools felt so she would understand. They talked about Daniel Tiger with her and high fives went all around for what a fantastic accomplishment it was! So thankful for their professionalism.
Oh and I forgot to mention they even gave her a sensory toy to take home!
Thankful!

My child had her first procedure done here and the office never was clear to me or my husband about parents going back with the child. My daughter is only 5 years old and had anxiety about it as well as I did. I would’ve understood that I couldn’t go back with her if the doctor would’ve respectfully and understandably addressed that anxiety instead of pretty much telling me if I didn’t like it then we can go somewhere else. I’m surprised you still have patients telling parents that bringing their young child in for their first procedure.

The office is nice & clean. I like how they play movies for the kids and have a game room. Front desk staff are friendly. My son seems to like the place and doesn't have any problems with the staff untill today he has anxiety & he was upset because he heard the lady say he needed xrays and my son has issues with that. So he told the lady "I don't wanna do it, i did them already "and he started getting upset and he told me that she looked at him and said " go on I'm not dealing with this today". So he went n got in the chair.I was kinda shocked that someone who is working with all different types of kids would say that. But I wasn't back there to hear how it was said,It upset him that she was rude he said mom i cant help i was tearing up hes like i dont like xrays. so I asked what was said next he said the dentist said it was ok that he has to only get them yearly and he has his already. I guess what I'm getting at is-To the worker n the back:when working with kids they are all not the same even though the outta parts look the same. Be kind, be understanding and compassionate towards kids who are extra nervous, help them not be scared!. Other then that I like the office. I hope she was just having a bad day.
